Elastec Announces ISO 9001:2000 Certification
Our company has always been dedicated to product improvement. Our most recent investment in Quality Management is ISO 9001:2000.
Under the guidance of Ken Russell, a certified quality auditor with extensive experience in quality management, we worked hard on making the transition.
Our entire staff was involved in incorporating the ISO system into our existing quality management program. Some documentation methods were revised while others were implemented during the certification process. The entire company is in agreement that the ISO system is an asset as we continue to manufacture high quality products.
“ISO is part of our ongoing commitment to quality manufacturing,” CEO Donnie Wilson said. “We have equipment operating all over the world all the time, so our equipment has to be high quality. We have always prioritized quality management issues and the ISO program helped us focus on a proven system.”

Certification also gives the company improved recognition in international markets. Companies achieving certification are often readily accepted suppliers for international tenders.

DRUG TERMINATOR
For disposal of confiscated drugs.
Drug Terminator is designed for safe and efficient disposal of confiscated drugs. Wood or charcoal provides an intense fire in an open head drum that acts as the burn chamber for this unique forced air incineration system. Drugs are injected into the intense fire with the EZ feed system. Drugs are immediately destroyed while burning clean and smoke free.
Drug terminator is designed for use by local law enforcement when other disposal options are limited. The integrity of the entire drug confiscation and disposal process depends on protocol that insures drugs are completely destroyed. Drug terminator is a tool that will help local law enforcement introduce dependable protocol to their program and maintain the integrity of the system. Drugs are destroyed completely.

NEAT SWEEP® Demo in Brazil
Elastec/American Marine personnel commissioned a Neat Sweep® dispersant application system for Alpina-Briggs in Brazil. The exercise took place in Guanabarra Bay near Rio de Janiero.
Neat Sweep® is deployed from a reel with inflatable boom. The system is deployed apex first. The dispersant application system is inflated and subsequently boom on both sides of the U-configuration are inflated in one continuous operation. The system uses fast water boom with large flotation and short skirt to channel the oil and prevent entrainment. The system can be deployed using two tow boats or one tow boat and a boom vane (see picture). A boom vane keeps the entrance of the U-configuration open as the tow vessel advances into the spilled oil. Boom vanes can be controlled from the main towing vessel when responders wish to close the apex of the U-configuration or retrieve the system for towing at higher speeds.
Boom concentrates oil into an even thickness at the Dispersant Application Zone. As oil is funneled through the Dispersant Application Zone, dispersant is applied neat. Advantages of the system include increased efficiency because overdosing or underdosing is greatly reduced. Chemicals are well away from response personnel limiting exposure.

Military Purchases MediBurn units for Iraq
The US military in Iraq has purchased MediBurn units to dispose of medical waste from their mobile medical units. MediBurn is designed as a portable system for use by small hospitals and clinics in remote locations. The unit has many of the same design features and capabilities of large incinerators, yet this unique incinerator is compact enough to be transported by small truck. MediBurn can also be lifted and transported by helicopter.
Electronic controls make MediBurn simple to use. Training consists of reading a few simple instructions prior to first use. Anyone can use the MediBurn. It is a push button system that controls burn cycles internally.

ES-400 Helical Screw Pump
High Performance in Heavy Oil

Elastec/American Marine’s new helical screw pump enhances skimmer performance in heavy oils. Skimmer/pump combinations are critical to maximum performance. The ES 400 combines with several models of Elastec skimmers for excellent results when the going gets tough and recovered oil is highly viscous.
This new pump represents a new standard in high head, heavy oil pumping systems. Lightweight and portable, the ES 400 is capable of superior solids handling capabilities. Call Elastec for information.

AMI Completes Project with Northeastern Atomic Power Plant
AMI turbidity curtains were purchased for a sensitive dredging project at an atomic power plant in the Northeast. Requirements stated that the curtain system contain sediments in a large area. When the dredging operation was in process, the large area would be segmented into smaller cells.
American Marine designed a unique curtain system using a large outer curtain with frequent attachment points. Specially designed curtain panels were attached to the attachment points creating a flexible cell system. Dredge operators were able to remove sediments in desired areas with no danger of contaminants spreading to the surrounding area.
